Sound absorbing fabrics and acoustics in padel halls

Eventgross has supplied acoustic sound-absorbing fabrics and curtains to padel arenas across the Nordic region since 2014-15. Eventgross is the biggest company supplying sound absorbing curtains in Scandinavia. In addition to acoustic textiles, we provide sound absorbers, needle-felt carpets surrounding the padel courts, and we offer great accessories to make your padel arena ready to play. In 2020, the sport of paddle tennis experienced a significant boom in Sweden, and since then we have supplied large volumes both directly to end customers and through resellers across Scandinavia. Eventgross is by far Sweden’s largest producer of acoustic textiles for sports facilities.

Sound absorption in padel courts

We been involved in acoustics for padel courts since padel was introduced in Sweden. Eventgross were early suppliers to those constructing complete arenas for their customers. We still maintain a strong collaboration with these manufacturers to quick and easy arrange an acoustic solution to the arena. Eventgross has knowledge and many years of experience in acoustic materials, as Eventgross is born from an acoustical company. Today we are supplying acoustical solutions to a wide range of customer as public spaces, padel courts, and other sports facilities.

Eventgross originated from an acoustic company and has always had an acoustic part in the company. Since 2014, this acoustic aspect has continuously expanded. Our main products for padel courts are acoustic curtains, sound-absorbing fabrics, and flooring for padel courts.

We deliver large quantities of materials each year, so if you need references just contact us. the picture above you can see very nice padel court that has installed sound absorbing fabrics and textile carpet tiles.

The fabric has significantly improved the environment for us, reducing the noise in the arena. It has also created peaceful feeling for a more exclusive arena.

Sound absorbing fabric

Eventgross collaborates with Europe’s largest weaving mill for the sound-absorbing fabric we use, ensuring guarantees for the durability and functionality of the acoustic fabric. This acoustic fabric is designed to absorb sound, in contrast to other manufacturers where the appearance may look similar but differences exist in sound absorption and durability.

The advantage of the weaving mill we exclusive work with is that they control the entire production chain. They own the spinning mill that produces the thread, the weaving mill that weaves the fabrics, and the dyeing facility that colors and add flame retardant treatment to the sound-absorbing textiles. This ensures that high-quality raw cotton is used, resulting in fabrics with long-lasting durability and optimal sound absorption. If you wish to have custom colors for the acoustic drapes around the court, we can arrange that for orders of at least 500 running meters.

Wave suspension

Do you want the fabrics to hang evenly folded across the entire wall? No problem, it’s not the fabrics itself but the suspension system that accomplishes this. You can do this in many ways and there are both temporary (with plastic clamps) and for permanent (metal hooks) installation ways to do this. The waves make the sound pass the acoustical textile multiple times, reducing the sound level in the padel or sport facility. Get in touch, and we’ll provide you with information about this!

Sound absorbing and divide areas

Often, you’ll want to separate different areas within your padel hall. This might involve dividing the entrance, cafe, or conference room from the padel courts. You can achieve this using various fabrics with acoustic, blackout, or transparent properties. We have rails that allow you to easily and smoothly pull the fabrics back and forward and we have an in-house sewing service where we customize drapes and curtains to padel arenas, sport facilities and theaters. Big curtains and acoustics are our main business.

Cover with acoustic fabric

Installing curtains in padel halls isn’t just for their acoustic properties and sound absorption. They can also cover walls, saving time during installation and minimizing costs. We have many customers who’ve purchased fabrics specifically to hide less attractive, old industrial walls.

If you have a cafe, conference room, or event space, we offer flame-resistant textiles for these purposes. We have fabrics for permanent installations such as sheers, voile, blackout, or other attractive and easy-to-maintain fabrics designed to hang trouble-free for many years.

Flame retardant acoustic fabrics in padel arenas

To install fabrics in a padel hall or sports facility, the fabrics must be flame-retardant. We have extensive knowledge of this because we exclusively deal with flame-retardant flooring and textiles and have been working in this field for many years. It’s important that you get in touch with the property owner and the fire department to see if they have any specific requirements for the padel hall. If not, C-s1, d0 for the fabrics and Cfl-s1 for the flooring should be sufficient. However, make sure all textiles and needle-felt carpets meet the correct flame-retardant classification to avoid having to replace them when the fire brigade conducts inspections. We have unfortunately experienced having to replace textiles and flooring with the right flame-retardant and acoustic properties.

Ball stops between padel courts

If you’re looking for ball stops to prevent stray balls from bouncing into other courts, we can provide ball stops that hang between padel courts. They are typically made from sound-absorbing materials, effectively preventing the transmission of sound throughout the facility.

Glare screens in padel arenas

Sometimes, padel courts are positioned in a way that causes glare between them, which is unavoidable in some venues. There’s often a net behind the padel courts, but hanging an acoustic, sound-absorbing fabric instead has several advantages. It acts as a ball catcher, just like the net, but the fabric also shields the light, preventing players on close located courts from being dazzled. This is a significant advantage, especially during matches and tournaments. Hanging fabrics also have an acoustic benefit as they stops sound that would otherwise travel through the padel arena.

In terms of effectiveness, a sound absorbing fabric has a higher effect when placed 15 cm from the wall, and there’s an advantage to trying to absorb the sound as early as possible where it originates. If you absorb the sound as fast as possible, the sound doesn’t spread out from the court, resulting in a calmer acoustic environment in the padel arena. Simultaneously, you achieve a less disruptive playing experience because padel players on neighboring courts are not disturbed.

Here, you can see a variant that has worked very well for a customer outside Stockholm, Sweden. Glare protection, ball catching, and acoustic sound reduction all in one. The fabric is a special textile because it required an extra high flame-retardant rating in this facility.

Curtain tracks

Eventgross offers a wide range of curtain tracks for public spaces such as schools, hospitals and sports facilities like padel arenas. Our rails are of the highest quality, designed for many maintenance free years of use. If you want the fabrics to hang still, you can use regular gliders in the rails, but if you want them to be movable, we recommend using wheeled carriers. Wheeled carriers not only extend the lifespan but also make it easier to move the fabrics, quieter, and give a more professional impression to the visitors. For the acoustical fabrics hanging just besides the padel courts you normally don’t move them.

Hanging acoustic curtains

Hanging heavy, tall fabrics on curtain tracks quickly becomes costly because it requires robust rails to support the weight. An inexpensive and quick solution is to sew sound-absorbing fabrics with grommets at the top and then hang them from wires. You can hang them directly from the wire, but if you want to be able to easily take down the fabrics if they get dirty or damaged, we recommend hanging them with cabin hooks. Keep in mind that long spans of wire can hang down and may not look as neat. It helps to provide some support at a few points to make the acoustic fabrics hang more neatly.

In-house sewing

We have in-house sewing in our own facilities and can tailor fabrics to your measurements in all our textiles. Our sewing department makes sure that you will get curtains made to measurement you order with high quality sewing. We supply both sewing and textiles with high quality. Since we handle the sewing ourselves, we can make small changes quickly and usually offer short delivery times at best prices. We sew everything from lightweight voile fabrics to heavy sound-absorbing fabrics using our modern powerful industrial sewing machines.

Clamps for hanging fabrics

If you choose to buy fabric only, it needs to have an attachment so you can hang the fabric from the ceiling or a beam just below the ceiling. With Eventgross smart clamp, you can mount it at the top of the sound-absorbing fabric, allowing you to install the acoustic textile. Installation can be done using screws, nails, or by threading a wire through the hole in the detachable eyelet or clamp. Quick and easy installation! You can easily install this clamp so the fabric hangs with folds if you prefer.
We receive many questions about the clamps, so we have taken a simple picture to show how it can look to hang acoustic sound-absorbing fabrics in your padel hall.

Printed textiles

We supply printed fabrics to padel halls to display your own logo as well as sponsors in the arena. Good printing on a matt fabric that hangs nicely in your venue. Of course, this fabric is flame-retardant and sound-permeable. If you have sound absorbents or acoustic sound-absorbing textiles behind this advertising banner, the sound will be absorbed even behind this promotional banner.

Sound absorbers in the ceiling

Sound absorber in the ceiling is a good way to complement the acoustical fabrics in the padel facility. Absorbing sound that goes directly up to the ceiling is crucial and ensures that the sound doesn’t travel further out in the arena. Unfortunately, this is a more expensive solution than sound-absorbing textiles and often customers choose to fill a some part of the ceiling. We have the ability to supply sound absorbents if you wish. Get in touch with us to explore the options!

Different types of sound absorbers

There are mainly two types of sound absorber for ceilings in padel halls: mineral wool-based and polyester-based. Functionally, they are quite similar, effectively absorbing sound. If there were no risk of balls hitting the ceiling, there would be no problem installing sound absorber with stone wool or glass wool. However, in padel arenas, balls can occasionally hit the ceiling, and that’s when you should avoid sound absorber made of stone wool and glass wool.

Polyester based sound absorber are entirely harmless, and their fibers are not harmful. Moreover, they are much stronger and more durable than absorbents made of stone wool and glass wool. We recommend polyester-based sound absorbers as they do not release any fibers you wouldn’t want in a sports environment. Often, polyester based absorbers are slightly more expensive, but in the long run, it’s a well-invested expense.

Sound absorbers on walls

Installing sound absorbers on the walls can be a way to absorb the lower frequencies in a padel hall. Normally there are no low frequency sound in a padel arena but some customer like ta add sound absorbers on walls. Having acoustic control for lower frequencies on the walls or ceilings can be a good way to avoid potential standing waves and resonance issues. This is normally not a problem, but if they occurs this can be a good treatment.

Sound absorbers – To be or not to be

Of course, sound absorbers are a bit more expensive than textiles but serve a valuable function in padel halls. Handling the sound that travels directly towards the ceiling is essential, and sound absorbers are a good option for that. In close collaboration with several padel hall constructures and acoustical engineers, we have delivered sound-absorbing acoustic fabrics to numerous halls across Sweden and the Nordic countries, and we have learned a lot during that journey. Eventgross originally comes from an acoustic company that imported and manufactured acoustic products for schools, sports halls, and music studios. Nowadays, we are focused on acoustic textiles and flame-retardant acoustic curtains.

Printed sound absorbers in padel halls

We can supply printed fabric with excellent sound permeability for covering sound absorbers made of polyester fiber or sound-absorbing materials such as mineral wool, stone wool, or glass wool. Build a wooden frame, for example, 120 mm deep. Inside the frame, you build crossbars at 60 cm intervals and install the sound-absorbing material, such as mineral wool or polyester fibers, and then staple the printed fabric to the back side of the wooden frame. The fabric used for printing is matt, has good sound permeability to the sound-absorbing material behind it, and is flame-retardant. This solution is both visually appealing and improves the acoustics in your padel hall while allowing you to attract sponsors.
Needle punched flooring to padel arenas

Even the flooring has an impact on the acoustics in a tennis or padel hall. It can dampen footstep noise, leading to less noise in the facility, and absorb sound through textile tiles and needle-punched flooring. Our customers experienced a significant difference in the sound in the facility after they installed the needle-punched mat around the padel courts.

Needle-punched flooring in padel arenas

Our best-selling textile flooring for padel halls by far. We have been selling this needle punch since we entered the padel world with the first arena builders in Sweden. We have delivered it to many halls from north to south of Scandinavian countries.

Needle punch mat – Heavier

Even though this needle-punched mat falls within the same class in terms of durability, it’s a more stable choice if you want it to last longer. Thicker and with more material, and of course, flame-retardant and sound absorbing.

Textile flooring tiles

The advantage of textile tiles is that they are quick and easy to install. They can be easily replaced if any part gets damaged. These are slightly more expensive than rolled needle-punched floorings, but they have their advantages.

Flooring tile Flat

Flat is a smooth needle-punched tile in a 50×50 cm size that we keep in stock. The surface is flat, meaning it has no texture or stripes. It works excellently in padel halls, offices, entrances, and lounges.

Textile flooring tiles rips

Textile tile Rips has a surface with lines or stripes, which we call ribbed. It comes in different colors, but normally it’s light or dark grey or a combination of both. The textile tiles are 50×50 cm and have a stable backside. Rips has a bit more material in the pile than Flat. We installed Rips in our office in 2016, and the textile tiles are still looks great.

Acoustic cloth in public areas

Acoustic cloth is Eventgross first acoustic product, this product has its roots in our acoustic background. Now this product is well-established, and we have many large and small customers in the Nordic and Baltic regions. We have two versions for permanent installation, Acoustic cloth 75 and Acoustic cloth 450. The slightly heavier acoustic fabric is sound-absorbing in itself and can be installed without sound absorbers behind it if desired. This acoustical cloth is permanent flame retardant and have very high quality. This type of acoustic cloth you build into walls and make whole wall sound absorbing.

Build a sound absorbing wall in your padel arena

Having an entire wall where you can absorb frequencies beyond what acoustic fabrics can handle can be a significant advantage in achieving an aesthetically pleasing and cost-effective acoustic solution. It’s relatively simple to build and can be installed for the most part on your own.
We recommend a minimum of 90 mm depth/thick sound absorbers, preferably deeper if there is room in the budget. Between the studs, you install insulation or sound absorbers. There are special, slightly denser mineral wool boards available if you want more absorption in the lower frequencies, but there are also polyester options if you prefer.

Once the sound-absorbing material is installed between the studs, you stretch the acoustic fabric over it. Finally, you attach wooden lists or perforated panels to finish the wall. It’s also possible to install large perforated sheets in wood or metal. Nowadays, you can perforate them in custom designs, which can be incredibly impactful! In any case, using acoustic fabric with an outer panel is a solution that will last a long time and improve the acoustics in your padel hall for many, many years.

Printed acoustic cloth

You can use your own design or print your logo color on the acoustic cloth if you want to make your padel arena even more distinctive.
We are professional suppliers of acoustic materials for padel halls and other sports facilities. Eventgross does not do installations, some of our customers do this themselves. We also have many subcontractors who buy our materials and carry out installations to their customers.

Environmental

The weaving mill we collaborate with has a large solar power plant on its roof and, over the years, has been able to generate a significant portion of its energy for weaving through this system. Regarding environmental, about 90% of the energy used in Eventgross plant is wing power. The heat is central heating, produced by wood chips. When we transport the sound absorbing fabrics from the manufacturer to our facility we always loads full trucks to both save costs and environmental.

We can also supply textile with recycled fibers, just let us know your wishes!

Different quality

Just like synthetic grass for padel courts, training pants, or padel rackets, there are different qualities of acoustical fabric. Quality can vary significantly depending on the manufacturer. To illustrate the extent of these differences, we have taken a picture of two different fabrics, one from our manufacturer (left in the image) and the other sample from another supplier (right in the image). The fabric on the right does not have the same properties as our sound absorbing textile, even though the weight, flame resistance, and other factors are exactly the same.

The fabric on the right is made from thicker yarn, which results in a looser and weaker textile. Even the sound absorption decreases when it becomes sparse like this. We have chosen to use a natural-colored fabric to showcase the weave and structure of the textile.

Eventgross work exclusively with the world’s largest weaver of this type of fabrics, known for their consistent and high-quality products. Since 2014-15, our acoustical fabrics has proven to withstand balls from both padel and tennis for many, many years. We believe our fabric looks even better after a few years of use.

Eventgross is the biggest and most innovative company producing flame retardant and sound absorbing textiles to sport and padel arenas in Scandinavia. We have long experience in producing high quality curtains to best prices. We do not do installations, we believe this is easy to find locally in your area. Please contact us if you want an offer for flooring, sound absorbers or sound absorbing curtains to you padel hall.
